Animatic

For our video, we have decided to to portray the concept that love is the same throughout time - each era (50s, 70s, 80s and 90s) has a different couple played by the same two people.

For our video, we choreographed certain moves for each era, as shown in our animatic. We also choreographed the two dances, and decided that for the first dance, the band should be in the frame along with the two leads, in a set-up similar to The 1975 - Girls video. Below is the choreography for the first dance. We decided that when the singing comes back in the lead will be with the band again.

The timeline of our video is:

  1. From 0:00 to 0:18 is the band performance so as to introduce the band and their image.
  2. From 0:18 to 0:37 is the 50s era - where the first couple is meeting, and the man is trying to woo the woman.
  3. From 0:37 to 0:44 is the 70s era - this is the second couple, and they are dancing together at the disco.
  4. From 0:44 to 1:00 is band performance again - we decided to have band performance for every chorus so as to have a more equal amount of narrative and performance in our video, as well as to make sure the band image and identity is portrayed.
  5. From 1:00 to 1:18 is the 80s era - this is the third couple, and the man is dancing to get the woman's attention, which he then does by taking her book and getting her to dance with him.
  6. From 1:18 to 1:25 is the 90s era - here the woman is wooing the man, and stops him from drinking so she can kiss his cheek.
  7. From 1:25 to 1:44 is band performance once again.
  8. From 1:44 to 2:00 is the first dance sequence of our video - in this sequence, all the different eras will be mixing together in order to portray our concept that love is unchanging throughout time. This is done through the different couples from the different eras all doing the same dance to show that love is the same and constant.
  9. From 2:00 to 2:15 is band performance again.
  10. From 2:15 to 2:33 is the modern era - here both the man and woman are on their phones, and the woman bumps into the man. This causes them to notice each other, and throw away their phones so they can talk, and begin to dance (as shown in the video below, as we re-choreographed this scene since producing the animatic).
  11. From 2:33 to 2:56 is the second dance sequence, again mixing the eras to show that love never changes throughout time.
  12. From 2:56 to 2:58 is the individual instrumental shots, as we wanted to edit to the music and have some more band performance shots.
  13. From 2:58 to 3:00 is the couple walking away from the camera holding hands, again mixing the eras.
Choreographing the modern scenes - the highlighters were used to represent phones.
