Costumes - 70s

We first used a Pinterest page to bring together inspirations and references for the 70s era style.

For the male, we want to reference the film Velvet Goldmine, and have our lead wear bootleg trousers and a too-small t-shirt, like the character Curt Wild shown in the image on the left (the man on the left). We also want our lead to be slightly androgynous, as this was common in the 70s, like the character Arthur Stewart (on the right), so we will put a small amount of make-up on our lead to achieve this look.
We decided on this shirt for Jacob, as it clearly references the style shown in the image above, therefore referencing the era.

For the female lead, we initially wanted to find a dress like the character Mandy Slade (shown on the left) - a dress with clashing, brightly coloured pattern, as this was common in the 70s and recognisably from this era.

For the 70s dress, we decided between two options, shown below. In the end, we chose the dress on the left, as we felt it referenced the 70s hippies clearly.
